Kyanite is a mineral that comes from aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks. Its name is derived from the word kuanos or kyanos, which in Greek means "deep blue"—the color in which it is most commonly found. This mineral comes from Australia, the European Alps, India, Kenya, Myanmar, Switzerland, and Yugoslavia, among other places. It is said that Kyanite is one of two minerals that does not absorb negative energy, and that it helps with communication.
